Text 1.
A mitten
Once upon a time there lived an old man. One day he lost his mitten.
A mouse ran along. She entered the mitten and set there. A frog jumped by and asked , “Who is there in the mitthen?” “I'm a Scratching mouse. And who are you?” “I'm a Croacking Frog. Let me in”. “ Come in”.
A hare rang along. “Who is there in the mitten?”,he asked. “I'm a Scratching Mouse, Im' a Croaking Frog. And who are you?” “I'm a Long-Eared Hare. Let me in. “ “ Come in.”
A fox ran past. “who is there in the mitten?”, she asked. “I”m a scratching Mouse, I'm a Croaking Frog, I'm a Long-Eared Hare. And who are you?” “I'm a Sister Fox. Let me in.” And they were seated there.
A wolf ran by and asked , “Who is there in the mitten?” “I'm a Scratching Mouse, I'm a Croaking Frog, I'm a Long-Eared Hare, Im' a Sister Fox. And who are you?” “I'm a Brother Wolf. Let me in.” “Come in”.
A bear went past, hummed and asked , “Who is there in the mitten?” “i'm a Scratching Mouse, I'm a Croaking Frog, I'm a Long-Eared Hare, Im' a Sister Fox. I;m a Brother Wolf . And who are you?” “I'm a Roaming Bear. Let me enter your mitten.” “Come in”. And he entered the mitten.
1. How do you understand the expressions? Make up sentences with them.

Text 2.
The Squirrel
When you walk in the forest look at the trees. You can see a squirrel in a tree. Th e squirrel makes home in the tree. It is very interesting ti look at the squirrels. They jump from tree to tree. Squirrels are very good animals. There are red squirrels and grey squirrels. They are small. They do not sleep in winter, but when it is very cold in winter- they sleep. When it is a warm winter day and the sun is bright, they go out to jump and play/ Squirrels like to eat nuts.

The bag secret
Billy and his mother are on the bus now. They are going to visit Billy's grandmother. They sit on the chair and they can see all the people in the bus. Billy looks at the people.
There is a man on the chair. He has a book.
On another chair there is a woman. She has a lot of things in her hands: a big bag, three boxes, two books and red flowers. Billy can not see her face. He can only see two flowers on her hat.
And Billy sees an old woman. She has a white bag in her hands. It is very interesting. The bag does not sit still. This bag dances!
“What can it be?” Billy thinks.
This is a big question, a big secret.
“Who? Why? What?” Billy thinks.
He sits very still and looks at the bag. The bus stops and Billy hears a loud “Mew!”. Then he sees two little black ears, and a little pink nose, and two green eyes. “It is a kitten!” Billy says and laughs.
